Day 22 (July 13): London

Compared to Norway, London is our "rest" city. We did so much hiking, walking, kayaking, and exploring up north. Now we are finally getting some sleep with longer darkness and good blinds.

I went into the gym this morning for the first time on the trip. 35 minutes sweating on a bike to prepare for Saturday (Peloton studio) and then several sets of bent over DB rows with 10kg plus alternating DB push press with same weight. Both at some minor tempo of 20X0.

After the workout while sweaty I went to a different coffee shop. They've all been good but I'm just exploring options.

We had more dim sum today at Yauatcha practically next door to yesterday's lunch. It was delicious.

We then walked to the London Transport Museum. It has a great history of getting around London in all kinds of cars, buses, and trains along with info on The Underground. This was very interesting.

Jill sought out some gelato while I wandered the Covent Garden area we were in and I spotted the Punch & Judy pub named after a famous puppet show. But my connection is via the song Punch & Judy by Marillion.

After the gelato, we walked over to Tate Modern which has a combo of free and paid exhibits. I've never appreciated modern art and this didn't change my mind. Here's an example of well placed color blobs called The Snail by Henri Matisse.

Later, I did see this mathematically structured item in agreeable Gaucho colors. 3Y + 3B (representing 3 yellows & 3 blues in wood, paint, and metal) by Rasheed Araeen.

We walked back to the hotel and got ready for dinner with Rachel - a friend of a friend. We met at Perilla. The cocktail selection was limited, but after we got that settled we talked about food. We decided to order the entire a la carte menu except for the soup. It was all really good. We paired that with one white and one red wine. It all worked.

We stopped at the Lobby Bar in our hotel and it was quiet compared to the previous two nights as we walked through loud crowded insanity. Strange for a Thursday night vs Tues/Wed but it was nice to hang for a bit after a decent day of walking without intending it to be that way.
