Day 23 (July 14): London
Another sleep in day was refreshing. We walked over to the Peloton studio to visit the store today so that tomorrow our visit is just business attending a live class and taking a photo with Hannah afterwards.
We found some coffee and dropped goods off at the hotel and then walked to lunch at Darjeeling Express. The food was my favorite lunch in London so far.
Today had a steady drip kind of like Seattle and gave us an excuse to just relax and watch some semifinals of Wimbledon on TV. We are very happy that rain didn't factor in to anything on this wonderful trip.
Today we celebrated meeting in Greece 21 years ago this week by going to a Greek Taverna called Retsina. The restaurant is named for a wine they've been making for centuries before wine barrels so they sealed the aging vessels in pine resin which imparts a flavor that takes some getting used to. Some never do get used to it.
The restaurant is in a suburb called Belsize Park which was beautiful but also gave me a Marillion connection for the 2nd straight day.
When we walked in early just before 7pm I was worried because only 3 tables were occupied. By just after 8pm though, the place was packed and loud. It was amazing. The food was great and the journey via tube was fine.
Hampstead Heath is a park nearby that we considered walking into but given the cloud cover & occasional sprinkles we thought we might not get an interesting view of the city from here. So we walked into Must Wine Bar on the edge of the park instead.
Jill got a 3 glass Burgundy pairing while I got the Big, Bold, & Beautiful pairing. Both were excellent options.
We rode the Underground back testing Jill's transfer knowledge plus we got to ride with 4 women with a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts taking videos and selfies for Instagram.
